What Causes The Pump Leakage?

Here're some popular reasons which leads to pump leakage:

1, the pump sleeve leakage

Many bushings do not extend out of the enclosure, so it is difficult to determine the source of the leak. The leakage of the bushing is usually stable, and the leakage of the sealing surface tends to increase or decrease. When the sealing surface leaks, the surface is uneven, but sometimes it will be worn out. (Sometimes do not rush to overhaul and observe for some time.)

2, if the seal is wet, and do not see leakage. This centrifugal force generated by the operation of the pump at start-up causes the leaked liquid to return to the sealing surface, acting as a barrier. The liquid leaking from the flange or joint on the pump dripped into the stuffing box.

3, thermal expansion can make the graphite ring embedded in the metal parts loose, it may be due to low temperature O-ring lost its elasticity, resulting in leakage.

4. Fluctuation of the flushing pressure will cause seal failure. The flushing pressure must be higher than the pressure in the sealed chamber. Enable the solenoid valve and time delay switch installed in front of the pump to ensure that the flushing residue is flushed before or after the pump starts. If quenching is used to control the temperature, the pressure in the seal chamber must be maintained.

5. If a layer of scale deposits on the cooling spacer, we can install a graphite bushing at the bottom of the sealing chamber, using its thermal barrier function to solve these problems.

6. The leakage of the heat exchanger is often due to the fact that the fouling on the cooling surface hinders the transfer of heat, the flow rate of the fluid in the cooler is accelerated, or the direction of the heat exchanger is reversed.
